Choosing the flowers
Flowers need to complement everything from your outfit to the venue's decor.
Make sure you shop around for a florist you feel comfortable with, who you know will produce amazing displays within your budget.
Flowers are often cheaper if you choose blooms that are in season around the time of your wedding, so it's worth looking at one or more of the following varieties, depending on your wedding date:
Spring
Hyacinth - spikes of tubular flowers
Lilac - lots of small, star-shaped flowers on woody stems with a fresh fragrance
Muscari - clusters of tiny, tubular flowers
Sweet pea - pretty, frilled flowers
Tulip - striking, trumpet-shaped flowers
Summer
Delphinium - towering spikes of flowers
Hydrangea - star-shaped flowers with wide flower heads
Peony - large, beautiful flower heads
Sweet William - lots of tiny flowers form a pretty headed stem
Autumn
Hellebore - dainty saucer-shaped flowers
Hypericum - reddish-brown berries
Nerine - open sprays of pink, trumpet-shaped flowers
Sedum - clusters of star-shaped flowers
Zinnia - similar to gerbera, but with more striking colours and pointed petals
Winter
Amaryllis - large trumpet-shaped blooms
Anemone - large, flat flower heads in a variety of bright colours
Mimosa - tiny, yellow clusters
Ranunculus - bow-shaped flower heads
Snowdrop - white, slender blooms suited to small bouquets
