Wedding Dresses: Expert wedding tips
Choosing a wedding dress
Choosing the right wedding dress can be difficult, so what are the main things you should consider?
1. Do you have a dream dress?
A bride has often had an idea of the kind of dress she wants from an early age. But fashion changes, so until you start trying on dresses you won't really know what will work.
2. Work out what style flatters your figure
A good dress designer or shop assistant will help you with this. Every bride is going to be concerned about some part of her body, but there really is a perfect dress for every figure.
3. Consider a two-piece
Choosing two pieces means you can mix and match. The bodice and skirt often don't look like separate pieces, but they can be easier to wear as the weight of the skirt sits on your waist.
Figure-flattering tips
- Avoid high necklines if you've got a full bust; it'll make it look bigger.
- Empire-line dresses don't work if you've got slim hips. However, a corset and A-line skirt will give you a great shape.
- A-line skirts with nipped-in waists are very flattering if you're a classic pear-shape.
Ways of accessorising a dress
- Adding beading such as crystals.
- The addition of some embroidery or handmade lace.
- Colour, which can be hand painted onto the dress.
- Adding a rose.
