Unusual wedding locations: The London Eye

For a really distinctive wedding, the London Eye is a licensed wedding venue.

Getting married on the London Eye is organised in the same way as any civil-ceremony wedding. You'll need to get permission from the local registrar (in this case via Lambeth Town Hall), set a date and then book the London Eye. Remember to check availability before setting your wedding date.

You'll be pronounced man and wife right at the top of the wheel, 450ft above the Thames. The views really are amazing. Flowers or silk can be used to decorate the capsule of the London Eye in which you are married - staff are used to requests for a particular look or theme.

After a wedding ceremony on the wheel, you'll need to organise a reception nearby. The nearby Marriot hotel is a lovely venue, but many people choose to hire a boat and continue their celebrations on the Thames. London Eye staff will liaise with the piers and help you to organise your river cruise.
